90 Breast Abscess Management: What Is Best for Breast?

Abstract Aim To assess the speed of resolution breast abscesses presenting to unit. There is significant variation in management between units at a national level. Whilst MAMMA study results are awaited, we wished understand our unit’s outcomes order improve patient journey. Method A single centre retrospective service evaluation acute abscesses. The project was approved on hospitals online QSIS system. data collected by interrogating health records database using following criteria: female, minimum age 16, 01/01/2017 - 31/12/2021. ICD codes for; abscess and/or infection were analysed with Excel (v16.40). Results 298 notes reviewed as representative sample (n = 700). 73 patients (24.5%) correctly coded have abscess. median 41 years (IQR 50-29.5). All received an USS scan within 24 hours. cohort stratified along smokers (32%) and lactational (23%) risk factors. Smokers most likely require I&D (39%) had longest duration antibiotics (24 days). time for similar those treated serial aspirations (40 days) who needed (42 Conclusions demonstrated prompt access aspirations.
